Wendy's Winter Wonderland

A little about me

Wendy Tinley Apr 2005

I adore Winter, as if you haven't guessed by now. I love the months from Hallowe'en to Easter. I know the days can be miserable and wet but those days are worth it when we finally get snow! I don't know why I like Winter so much. I love Summer too of course but Winter is wonderful... especially if I can go skiing. I guess I am just a child at heart.

There is nothing more delicious following a walk on a cold frosty day, or better still skiing, than drinking a steaming hot cup of hot chocolate. Close your eyes and imagine the scene... a roaring log fire with crumpets, muffins and marshmallows to toast and good friends to share them with... my idea of heaven!

Where I live

The red dot is Chesterfield

I was born in the industrial town of Chesterfield which has a population of around 100,000. The town is nestled in the heart of the north east of the County of Derbyshire just 12 miles south of the South Yorkshire city of Sheffield. Chesterfield is famous for it's very noticeable landmark, the Crooked Spire.

To the west of Chesterfield lies the Peak National Park, an area of outstanding beauty consisting of bleak moorlands and lush dales. I and my family feel very privileged to live in this lovely area so come and visit us sometime and see for yourself!

Three years ago I moved from Derbyshire (shock... horror) to South Yorkshire. I now live in the south east corner of Sheffield in a place called Halfway with Graham. I think it is called Halfway because it is literally half way between the villages of Mosborough and Killamarsh... not far from the small Derbyshire town of Eckington. Anyway I live about 400 yards into South Yorkshire... traditionally Halfway is a Derbyshire place but Sheffield aquired it some years ago... grrrrrrr! :)

How to contact me

Somebody recently pointed out that it was difficult to contact me from my website... oooops... silly me! I hadn't placed an email link anywhere. I have now amended this error by adding an email link at the bottom of every page.
